- Approved 14 Violence Prevention Services grants totaling $500,000 in 2024 to send to the full Council. Discussion surrounded programmatic thinking: what plans and goals exist in order for the Council and the public to judge the success of these programs?
- Received a presentation on the extension of a grant from the Pohlad Foundation for an additional $350,000 for a police early intervention program to identify and help officers experiencing mental health issues and connecting them with services and support and funding the Behavioral Crisis Response (BCR) team. The item was sent to the full Council on a unanimous voice vote. Additional funds may be required to support the grant and that item is expected in the next month.
- Adopted a staff direction for an analysis of the SpotSpotter program, which detects gunshots in certain neighborhoods, at the June meeting. The contract for the program expired in March.
