Received and filed the 2024 City Budget presentations from the following Departments:

• 311 Service Center (Proposed budget: $6,407,884)
  • The 311 Department and the Service Center merged in April 2023 for better efficiency and consistency, becoming the 311 Service Center. Director Mwende Nzimbi acknowledged the frustrations experienced by staff, constituents, and other stakeholders. Nzimbi apologized and committed to striving for a better customer experience.
• Communications (Proposed budget: $2,312,510)
  • Adding Interagency Coordinator position
• Neighborhood and Community Relations (Proposed budget: $770,160)
  • The 2023 budget was $1,056,085. Director Karen Moe said that the department is not actually experiencing a significant cut, and that the reason the 2023 budget appears higher is because of “one-time funding, rollover funds from 2022, and some lingering community safety costs.”
