Received an update on the 2024 state Legislative session
-
City priorities that passed include: the traffic safety camera pilot, expanded pedestrian mall authority, Blue Line extension anti-displacement funding, transportation network company driver pay, and comprehensive plan clarity, which preempts lawsuits challenging the City’s 2024 Plan allowing projects to continue.
-
Priorities that did not pass include:
- A capital investment bill to fund the Roof Depot Site in East Phillips
- Bonding bill negotiations with potential funding for the Minneapolis Veterans Home, ADA facilities, and the Nicollet Avenue Bridge - A change to the downtown taxing zone, which would have broadened the downtown area to include North Loop and all of Elliot Park, lowering the rate of taxes collected on entertainment and liquor from 3% to 2.5%.
