Northside and Southside Green Zone Task Forces - Joint Meeting
Northside Green Zone Task Force
Wednesday, July 12, 2023
6:00 p.m. — 8:00 p.m. CDT
-
Green Zone members discussed proposed changes from City Clerk’s Office regarding Advisory Boards and Commissions. These changes include: each board would have 15 members total, with 13 being appointed (one per ward) by a council member, and two appointed by the mayor; boards would not be required to follow Open Meeting Law; members of one board would not be allowed to serve on other boards; members would be limited to four two-year terms; no city staff would be allowed to serve on boards.
-
Green Zone members noted that racial equity didn’t seem to be addressed in the changes. They plan to meet with other advisory groups to discuss changes, and write a letter to the clerk and online petition for the public.
-
Green Zone members listed pros and cons of merging as one Green Zone Advisory Council, something they’ll continue to consider.
