The nominating committee is discussing how to verify the qualifications of applicants. That includes reference checks, employment, education, and residence.
Ahmad Sayles @ahmad_sayles 10/17
The committee is considering what parts of the application should be anonymized to ensure a non-biased process.
Ahmad Sayles @ahmad_sayles 11/17
Information being considered for anonymizing includes name, age, gender, nationality, residential address, zip code, education, employment, membership or associations, hobbies, and photo.

The committee is considering an appeals process for applicants who were rejected. A poll will take place to determine when applications will be deanonymized.
Ahmad Sayles @ahmad_sayles 13/17
The poll of the nominating committee members has ended. The nominating committee favors de-anonymizing the applications after the first pass of scoring. Now onto the rubric development.
Ahmad Sayles @ahmad_sayles 14/17
The nominating committee members have been asking community members what they want in candidates for the commission. Strategies for more youth involvement and community engagement are being discussed.
Ahmad Sayles @ahmad_sayles 15/17
These discussion topics (application review, rubric, and rotating chairs proposal) will be finalized in late October through the committee’s working groups.
Ahmad Sayles @ahmad_sayles 16/17
The rotating chairs proposal discussion is underway. The proposal says the nominating committee will have four chairs. The nominating committee’s working groups will select a member to serve as chair.
Ahmad Sayles @ahmad_sayles 17/17
At each meeting, the four chairs will lead/facilitate the meeting.
