1/2 The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections conducts and supports elections, making decisions related to the operation of elections in the county. It consists of four voting members: two Democrats and two Republicans.

The board certifies issues and candidates that appear on ballots, and it certifies election results. It also makes logistical decisions, such as how many voting booths and precinct scanners to allocate to polling locations.

The approval of the first contract and resolution has been moved ahead.

The approval of the personnel agenda and been moved ahead, and will be effective July 2, 2023. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

It is shared that there are 47 days until the August election. The voter guide is currently in production and will be going out in the mail later next week. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

The ballot department is assisting with the coding of the ballot and are approving the ballot. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

For vote by mail applications, currently, almost 6,500 applications have been processed. For comparison, last year with the August 2022 election, about 1,000 applications had been received by this point. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

This Thursday is the public view of the ballot and the ballot will be sent out Friday. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

• The Plane Dealer Building on 18th and Superior
•A warehouse on East 72nd Street
•Reserve Square, 12th & Superior
•Saint Vincent Charity Hospital

These walkthroughs brought clarity in choosing a location. The prime location of the four was the Plane Dealer Building. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

The Plane Dealer is the most operationally acceptable of the four locations. Some of its advantages include elevators that are used for the people and not equipment, parking, and a loading dock. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

One difference is that in the Plane Dealer building, there is a Non-profit located on the fourth floor of the building. These two organizations would have separate work spaces and would not have to frequently cross paths. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

Another pro to their choice is that there is also not an overwhelming amount of work needing to be done on this location. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

Of the four, the second option would be Reserve Square. However, the Plane Dealer Building is the most ideal. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

It will be further discussed how this building can be acquired. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

This building has access to an IT division, and would also be a great space for the November election. Again, it will be further discussed. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

Next discussed is an issue of East Cleveland and for an addition investigation. In my next tweets I will try to expound on this in the best way i can. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

The additional investigation would be conducted by the Integrity Division #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

By the language, it seems that this has been an ongoing process or discussion prior to today. I am not completely sure of the situation surrounding this as this is my first Board of Elections coverage, but as I learn more I will share more. #CLEDocumenters @signalcleveland

In the next meeting, it will be asked for a motion to refer the information to the public and for the Integrity Division to do additional research. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

“ Black Fork Strategies is an Ohio-based engagement firm that focuses on all aspects of community and electoral field work: voter engagement and registration, petition collection, canvass programs, and door-to-door campaign work.” #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

Black Fork has been working with the state in multiple counties for a while now. Black Fork has been dealing with an issue of registration cards coming in for people who are deceased. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland

It will be asked at the next board meeting for the Secretary of State’s office to look further into this matter. #CLEDocumenters @cledocumenters @signalcleveland
