DELAC is made up of representatives from each school’s English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), a school-based committee required if there are more than 21 English Learners at that school. The Committee’s role is to advise the district on programs and services for English Learner students. For more information, contact your school principal or ELAC chair.

Spanish translation services will be available at all meetings.

Members of the Board of Education are nominated and elected by geographic sub-districts for a term of four years. As of the November 2022, election, members will have a 3-term limit.

Regular business meetings of the San Diego Unified School District Board of Education are generally held twice a month, on the second and fourth Tuesdays. Unless otherwise posted on the agenda, the board begins their meeting in closed session at 3:30 p.m., in Room 2249, and the open (public) session begins at 5:00 p.m., in the Eugene Brucker Education Center Auditorium, located at 4100 Normal Street, San Diego, California. Special meetings may be called to discuss a limited topic.
